The management of ABSAA (Al-Widaa Burial Support Association of Alberta) has the rights, without any prejudice, to accept or reject any Membership Application with no obligations to explain the reasons and may ask for additional documents, if needed. Also, the management has the right to cancel the membership of any existing member without giving any reasons.
All Adult Muslim Canadian Citizens, Permanent Resident Card, Super visa, Student Visa and others legally staying in Canada, and their spouses and unmarried children are eligible to register as a member of ABSAA . Any person submitting Membership Application for his / her parents or Mother / Father in-law must have their own membership first. A proof of legal status in Canada of each member applying for membership is Mandatory.(We do not accept Driver’s License, Photo Card, Health Card and Birth Certificate as a proof of Canadian status ID (only accept Passport or Citizenship certificate as a proof of Canadian Citizen, must have a photo ID ), also we do not accept Membership Application via email.)
Membership is not transferable.
ABSAA funeral financial support services are provided only for the city of Edmonton and vicinity where the funeral and burial facilities are available up to the limit of $7,000 (Seven Thousand). In the future we will expand our service to cover all Alberta province.
Once the Membership Application is accepted, the activation date will be after (03) three months from the date the application received for full benefits of ABSAA However, in the event of demise of any ABSAA member, the deduction of your share of reimbursement will take place from now onward. If the registered member or any of his family members passes away by the will of Allah SWT before the completion of three months period the ABSAA will not be liable to provide any Funeral Financial Support. However, the management will provide necessary guidelines to deceased family.
All members must regularly watch ABSAA emails and their bank account to ensure that they have enough funds available in their account to withdraw the expenses share in the event of death of any ABSAA If the transactions are declined, as a principal member will be required to cover the penalty of $25 plus the cost of expenses share.
Any registered member declared defaulter due to non-payment of dues and non-compliance of ABSAA rules and regulations will be subject to cancellation of his / her membership.
If the family of deceased wishes the funeral / burial to be taken place in the Masjid / Muslim Cemetery in the city far away from the residence of deceased, the additional cost of transportation, grave / burial over the limit of $7,000.00 will have to be paid by the deceased family. All steps of funeral processing of ABSAA deceased Members are taken precisely following the guidelines of Muslim Faith (Sunni).
This is parents / Sponsors responsibility, once their dependent child(ren) has (have) got married, they have to Re-register the married child as Principal Member as soon as possible. He or She will no more be eligible to avail the benefit of funeral / burial financial support and services until re-registration.
ABSAA is authorized to withdraw the reimbursement share cost from Principal Member / Sponsor account to cover funeral cost of deceased member of the organization as and when needed as calculated ( with minimum $5) per death. I further authorize ABSAA to withdraw any past due payment along with penalty from my valid account.
ABSAA fee structure is based on once and lifetime membership fee (non-refundable).
Membership fee should only be paid by automatic withdrawal, as the application must include the void cheque. Otherwise, the application will not be approved or will not be valid. Any other method of payment is not accepted.
Upon registration the principal will pay $50 registration fee to cover the administration cost. This will be withdrawn along with the one-time life time fee of the members listed in the registration application. Please note that your contribution for Registration fee may vary from year to year based on prevailing inflationary situation and cost of living at that time.
In the event of Bank Account transactions are returned due to changes made in them by the member without notifying us, ABSAA will automatically withdraw $25 from their account as penalty.
In the case of demise of any ABSAA registered Member; it is the sole responsibility of ABSAA Management to make the funeral arrangements in coordination with the deceased family. No family member should contact the Masjid / Cemetery directly to make the funeral arrangements on their own.
ABSAA will not sale or purchase any grave. Purchase of grave by registered Member or his family in advance at the location of their choice. ABSAA will not pay the cost of such grave.
If a Member travelled to remote area out of the GEA (greater Edmonton area) for work or business and passed away, The funeral arrangement is the responsibility of the Member’s family as long as the family are residence of Edmonton area. They must look for a Masjid / Cemetery with funeral arrangement and notify us for the payment of funeral cost (not exceeding limit $7000), if the Masjid / Cemetery accept the payment by Credit Card, Email Transfer and Cheque, ABSAA will make the applicable payment directly to them upon the receipt of Invoices from them in the name of “Al-Widaa Burial Support Association of Alberta. Funeral cost invoice/s in the name of a person is/are not acceptable at all and no reimbursement will be made against such invoice/s. (Ref. FAQ – 15)
Refund of disapproved Membership: If the Membership request is rejected/not approved, the applicant will be notified by mail. In return the applicant has to send email to Al-Widaa Burial Support Association of Alberta requesting at info@ABSAA.ca for refund of the automatically withdrawn membership fee by ABSAA.
Any incomplete application will not be accepted and processed at all. If potential applicants do not receive any Email/Acknowledgement letter from ABSAA within five (5) days after the submission of Membership application, it will be applicant responsibility to call ABSAA at 780-709-5202 (Br. Hussein Abdu) or 780 243 4623 (Br. Amir Khan) to check and confirm the status of their application
ABSAA highly recommends to write your “Will“ for the easy transfer of your property to your loved ones so that your family is given full access to your assets after your death.
